Green Oak Ranch is a healing community under the Lordship of Jesus Christ.  We endeavor to apply His teachings and values in the activities we undertake.

These activities include…

Freeing the Oppressed. Oppression -values and practices that directly or indirectly diminish human life and deny authenticity- is widespread and for many masquerades in chemical dependence.  Our mission, therefore, is to help  men and women and break free from chronic practices that preempt authenticity found only in restored relationship with God  through Jesus Christ.

Feeding the Hungry. Hunger -lacking adequate nourishment to properly sustain human life- impairs mental and physical health.  Chronic hunger is a form of oppression and is often an effect of behavioral choices such as chemical addictions.  Likewise, without spiritual nourishment, the spiritual dimension of human life suffers. While in our addictions we often choose drugs and alcohol over food.  Similarly, we ignore our need for spiritual nourishment.  Our mission, therefore, is to nourish the physical and spiritual natures of men and women.

Clothing the Naked. Nakedness -lacking sufficient covering to avoid shame and harm- diminishes human life. Similarly, men, women and children who are spiritually naked are vulnerable to the many events and circumstances faced throughout life. It is not uncommon for men and women to arrive in our community with only the clothing they are wearing, and estranged from God with no sense of spiritual cover.  Our mission, therefore, is to clothe the physically naked, and offer spiritual covering for those who no longer sense God’s love.

Sheltering the Poor. Homelessness -lacking adequate shelter against natural elements, abuse and neglect- diminishes human life. Our addictions often cost us our homes and families. Our mission, therefore, is to provide shelter for the homeless.

Caring for Our Families. Jesus, our life model, summarized the body of religious law when He said we are to first love God and then love our neighbors to the same degree we love ourselves.   1 Timothy 5:8 says that we deny our faith if we fail to care for our families.  While in our addictions we often neglected our families, choosing instead to get our own needs met. Our mission, therefore, is to demonstrate Christian faith through personal and family care that, in turn, relieves oppression, hunger, nakedness, homelessness and neglect.

“If you extend your soul to the hungry
And satisfy the afflicted soul,
Then your light shall dawn in the darkness,
And your darkness shall be as the noonday.”
Isaiah 58:10
